On May 5th and 6th, Beacon Hill Nursery School hosted over 150 grandparents and special friends, including 5 of 6 legacy families, at the school for its annual “Grandparents and Special Friends Day”. In its third year, Grandparents and Special Friends Day is designed to showcase the school’s phenomenal facilities and exceptional programs to grandparents and friends of the children of BHNS. The children take great pride in sharing their school and their teachers. “We have always been that ‘community within a community’ and we want to support and strengthen that tradition,” says Lucinda Ross, Executive Director of BHNS, in regards to Grandparents and Special Friends Day and its location within Boston. “Furthermore, with more legacy families coming into the school each year, it is the perfect opportunity to invite those former parents and present grandparents back to visit.”
This year, the Grandparents and Special Friends Day committee, led by current parent Heather Benedetto, Rainbow Room teacher Ali Munroe, and Micki Rowaan, Development Director, pulled out all the stops. Grandparents were treated to refreshments in the lunchroom while gazing upon the art from the art show, classroom activities with their grandchildren, and a nature activity in the back playscape. And whether it was a grandparent or special friend, the children loved showing the people they love the school they love!
