BHNS teachers or administrative staff cannot administer prescription or non-prescription medication to a child without the written order of a physician (this must include the label on the medication) which indicates that the medication is for the specific child, and no medication can be administered to a child without written parental authorization. Administration of medication will be noted on the Permission to Administer Medication Form as well as the Medication Log.
Medication must be stored in the original, labeled container with the child’s name, name of medication, directions, and instructions for storage of medicine. No medication can be administered contrary to the label without written doctor’s authorization. This authorization is valid for one year only.
