The tradition and practice at Beacon Hill Nursery School has been that problems are best addressed and resolved by frank and open discussion of differences.

Teachers

Parent(s) should speak directly to a teacher about any concerns or complaints they may have with the teacher’s performance. If, after speaking with the teacher, the parent does not feel that the problem has been ameliorated or resolved, the parent should schedule a meeting with the executive director. After this meeting, the executive director will then report the full particulars of the complaint to the teacher and will hear the teacher’s response. After assessing the nature of the complaint, the executive director will determine what action is necessary. The executive director will inform the parent and the teacher of her decision and of any action she has planned.

Executive Director

Parent(s) should speak directly to the executive director about any concerns or complaints they may have with the executive director’s performance. If, after speaking with the executive director, the parent does not feel that the problem has been ameliorated or resolved the parent should speak with the co-presidents of the Board of Directors. The co-presidents will report the full particulars of the complaint to the executive director and will hear the executive director’s response. The co-presidents will determine what action is necessary.

If, after any meetings the co-presidents may have scheduled, the parent does not feel that the problem has been ameliorated or resolved, then the parent shall so inform the co-presidents. The co-presidents shall inform the Board of Directors of the complaint by a letter directed to all board members and to the executive director. The executive director shall have fourteen days in which to respond with a letter directed to all board members. If the complaint involves a teacher or other school employee, a copy of the co-presidents’ letter and the executive director’s letter, if any, shall be given to the teacher or other employee. The teacher or other employee shall have fourteen days from receipt of the co-presidents’ letter to respond with a letter to the full Board of Directors if he or she wishes. The Board of Directors, at its next meeting, shall determine what action is necessary.
