The school does not provide transportation, but parents often arrange car pools or walking groups. Every child must be accompanied to and from school by an adult. All children must be checked in by a BHNS staff member either at Early Drop Off or in the classroom during regular school hours. The names of adults picking up children on a regular basis must be on the Pick-Up Authorization Form completed by parents and updated as circumstances warrant.

Parents must send in a signed and dated note if another adult will picking up their child and is not listed on their original Pick Up form.

Parents must also submit a completed Transportation Plan. Please see Tracey Lawler for a copy.

Car Transportation

The school does not provide parking.

Parents may not park their cars on the Joy Street sidewalk in front of or near the school to drop off or pick up their child. Parents may park their cars on Cambridge Street (between the fire station and the intersection at Joy Street) reserved for 10-minute drop-off between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Parents may also park at any paid meters on Cambridge Street or in the parking lot at Whole Foods-free for 1 hour if validated. Parking on Joy Street is prohibited on street cleaning mornings. To avoid parking difficulties, many families arrange carpools with others in the neighborhood.

Beacon Hill Nursery School has been a valuable component of this neighborhood for many years, and our community relationships are important. While parking is always an issue for the neighborhood, to ensure the safety of our walking families, to maintain access to Joy Street by emergency vehicles, and out of respect for the various members of this neighborhood, compliance of this parking policy is vital.
