Find Out About Each Other Friday

This week during our morning meeting, our Find Out About Each Other Friday question was “Do you have a pet?” Children and teachers took turns answering this question by selecting a magnetic name tag and trying to recognize the beginning letter of the name to share with their classmates or teacher. This activity allows the children to build letter recognition skills, to wait for a turn, to listen and learn about the likes of their classmates and teachers to discover similarities and differences among the group. It was a close one today but there are more children and teachers who do not have a pet.

Music with Ella

We enjoyed another Tuesday music class with Ella this week. She welcomed the Coral Room kids by singing their name and strumming her ukulele. She does a remarkable job remembering everyone’s names! The children played rhythm sticks and tambourines while singing, dancing and moving in different ways. Each of the kids had a chance to strum her ukulele and then she sang the goodbye song. It was another great music class!

Yoga with Tara Rachel

We enjoyed our Wednesday yoga class this week with Tara Rachel. We began class with a few breathing exercises and the traditional yoga song, did a few sun salutations and then followed along to Tara Rachel’s yoga story. The story this week was about a young boy who was taking one last trip to the beach where he saw a few different animals. The children worked hard to make the shape of each animal and we ended class with a ball smush. At the end of each class, the children have been practicing putting on their own shoes and socks and are working hard at it. We are very impressed!

Library Time

We were excited to have our first parent reader today. Ella’s mom read to the Coral Room today and met us at Lisa’s desk to join us for the walk to our school library space. She read Pinkalicious to the class and after she read we said hello to the fish. Then we walked back to school to have some music time in the Coral Room. We loved having our first parent reader and loved the book. Thank you Chelsea!!
