Monday 9/14
Happy Monday!
This week in the Purple Room, we will be celebrating the color red all week! We will celebrate one color each week until we complete the whole rainbow and move onto celebrating letters! Throughout the week, we will incorporate the color red into several parts of our day such as the question of the day, the books we read, and our table top choices.
One of our table top choices today was making red collages!

Each Purple Roomer took a turn at the big table creating some incredible collages using all red materials! For our collages, we used yarn, pom-poms, stickers, pipe cleaners, markers, oil pastels, and glue! Students were invited to come over to explore the materials and then use the glue and paint brush to add them to red paper. Collaging is a wonderful way for our Purple Room friends to explore creativity while building fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and decision making. They also get to express their ideas in a fun and open-ended way by choosing, cutting, gluing, and arranging materials.

Question of the Day
Today's Question of the Day was: Which RED food do you like more, apples or strawberries? We counted up the votes and talked about how 9 is bigger than 3! We also practiced showing different numbers on our hands.

Second Meeting
At our second meeting today, we did something very special! Ms. Carly shared her All About Me book! For the next few weeks, we will invite a friend to share their book with the class at the end of the day. This is a wonderful way to build community by learning more about one another, and it also allows us to practice our expressive and receptive language skills.

Snapshots From Our Day
Some of our other table top choices today included...
Kinetic sand with scrabble tiles, red roses, and coins
Red playdough with the red barn and farm animals
Red materials to build with on the light table
Red and blue chalk with water to paint and erase (incororating letter identification in our names)
