Introducing Watercolor Painting:
Today we introduced watercolor painting to the children, which was familiar to some children and new to others. Watercolors require following specific directions, fine motor skill, and focus. Teachers modeled how to use watercolors as each child took a turn at the art table. First we wet our brush in WATER, then we put our brush in the COLOR/PAINT to "wake up the color", then we put the color on the PAPER. Then we repeat the process; WATER then COLOR then PAPER. Throughout the morning, children had the opportunity to try watercolor painting themselves at the art table.
At Meeting, we introduced our new "Days of the Week" song and calendar, which we will use as a visual schedule to keep track of days we have school, specials, and home days! Each day we will move a clothespin to signify the current day of the week.
