Thursday 9/24: Our First Trip to the Library & Small Groups with Sheryl
Today was a busy day in the Green Room! We had small groups with Sheryl and our first visit to the library! We also had a new provocation: washing the dinosaurs in water!
Small groups with Sheryl: Today the children were invited to explore foam soap at the back table with Sheryl. Most of the children were excited to cover their hands (and sometimes arms!) in foam soap, while others were a bit more hesitant about such a sensory experience. With the foam soap, the children sang songs with Sheryl as they practiced using their pointer fingers, making circles, and making lines going up and down.
Dinosaurs in Water: After playing with our dinosaurs in the playdough all week, they were in need of a bath! Today we "washed" the dinosaurs with trays of water. We offered sponges and pipettes, which offered new fine motor challenges. Teachers were impressed by how quickly everyone learned how to use pipettes in the water!
Our First Trip to the BHNS Library: Today we had our first visit to the BHNS Library with our special guest reader, Ms. Melissa! She told us she had seen our new art piece hanging outside our classroom today, and was inspired to read a book about artists! After her story, we had some time to explore the library space, look at some books, and check out the fish tank. We are so excited to welcome all of you as Guest Readers on Thursdays starting next week. Check your email for more details on how to sign up.
See you tomorrow!
