Welcome to the Red Room!!

What a wonderful introduction to our school year! Your little ones have been very busy exploring their new classroom over these past couple of days. They're learning the structure of our school day alongside their peers and the give and take of sharing and waiting their turns for all these new materials their eager to explore. In these early weeks of school, we will be concentrating on setting a strong foundation for our daily routines and expectations. Part of this introduction is modeling how we treat and care for our classroom materials, learning where things are kept, and the process of respecting our environment and our friends. It is our goal to give your children the tools they need to navigate around our learning space independently as they build a foundation for a life long love of learning. Our learning space will nurture the whole child as they build skills across all developmental domains (Social/Emotion, Cognitive, Math/Science, and Fine/Gross Motor). As our school year progresses our classroom will continue to evolve and grow alongside your children with the objective of challenging their ideas and expanding their view on the world around them.
Our intention with our first blog is to share their initial introduction into their new classroom as we highlight some of the spaces around the room. Next week we will dive a little deeper into the meaning behind each space and/or provocation station. We hope you enjoy some of the moments we were able to capture on camera as they experienced their first few days of school! And for those friends that have not yet joined us, we can’t wait to welcome you!
Highlights from around the room....
Our Studio
Invitation for open-ended art exploration, which promotes early literacy skills!

Sensory Table

Invitation to explore the properties of sand, fostering children's natural curiosity to fill, pour, scoop, and collect!
Clay

Invitation to explore with playdough inspired by the magic wood!
Light Table

We always start off our year with rainbow magna tiles and loose parts for your little ones to begin exploring with light and transparency, while introducing color and shape recognition.

Listening Center

The Listening Center is another area in our classroom that fosters early literacy skills, such as foundational language skills and comprehension. It's tradition in the Red Room to begin our school year with Magic Train Ride!

Pretend

Our Pretend Area invites your little ones to explore their imaginative world through play, which is vital to their overall development, because it builds foundational social, emotional, and cognitive skills. At age three, children shift from playing side-by-side to playing and interacting with one another.
Loft
Invitation to explore trains and other vehicles using ramps, tracks, and bridges, which fosters their motor, cognitive, and social skills as they collaborate and work together toward a common goal!

Building
And finally our building area has already become a beloved learning space for this years crew of veggies. As in the Loft and Pretend areas, this space also lends itself to nurturing the whole child across all developmental domains.
So many FIRSTS this week....
Thats a wrap for the week! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and we'll see you back in the Red Room on Monday.❤️
